History of ministry 1979-1981 I attended the Jerusalem School of the Bible in Israel. This school was an outreach of a local church in Jerusalem. It trained and sent out ministry teams to various parts of the world. The School of the Bible focused on practical training and hands-on ministry. Much of my time was spent in prayer, worship, and ministry. During this time we experienced a great outpouring of God's power. 1981-1985 During this period our ministry took on a new dimension. Although it was similar to our work in Israel, we began to travel constantly. We made various stops throughout Southern and East Africa speaking in churches, at seminars and conferences, and in Bible schools. It was both a time of ministry and preparation for the future. We were credentialed with the Apostolic Faith Mission of Southern Africa, the largest Pentecostal denomination in Africa. 1985 - 1989 God led us to establish a church in central Zimbabwe. While I served as Senior Pastor, the church purchased a large hotel and began a Bible Training Center. This was a great step of faith for a church of only one year old. Resulting from this ministry, we helped start many churches throughout northeastern Zimbabwe. Our ministry provided supervision as well as training for their leadership. These four years became perhaps the greatest highlight of our ministry. Through my experience as a Senior Pastor and our involvement with the many new churches, God matured us and gave us insight and wisdom, enabling us to deal with almost every imaginable situation or circumstance that we would encounter in our present ministry. Our itinerant ministry continued during this period. In addition to traveling to South Africa, our ministry expanded to England and America. Our departure from our church in Zimbabwe resulted from both God's direction and the continued pressures we experienced from the local government. At one time we were falsely accused of spying and detained because of their resentment of our success in purchasing the hotel and establishing the training center. Miraculously, we were released and God completely turned the situation around. Prior to our leaving Zimbabwe, we won favor with the government and they officially apologized to us and thanked us for what we had accomplished. 1989 - Present During the past few years, God has enabled us to help many churches focus on their mission. We have been permitted to minister to and speak into the lives of Pastors and other leadership. Our first involvement was the restoration of a church in Louis Trichardt, South Africa, which had been hurt through some very complex situations. After this we were involved in troubleshooting and helping many other churches in South Africa, England, and the United States. At the present time, we are working with an Assembly of God church, Turning Point Christian Center, in Vancouver, Washington. This church had gone through a very difficult time and needed to be restored and re-established. Our ministry at Turning Point began as a six-month commitment, but we subsequently stayed for an additional twelve months. I assumed the role of Interim Senior Pastor and now work very closely with their existing leadership. The church recently selected a permanent Senior Pastor. Our objective as Interim Senior Pastor was to lay a solid foundation for the new Pastor to build upon. In the past year, we have established a successful cell group ministry and have focused on prayer and caring for one another. The church is now experiencing great unity, excitement, and is poised for growth and much blessing. |
